Earthbound Farm Review & Giveaway~ 4 Winners!

Since my blog is named Garden of Giveaways, it seems only right that I should actually review some fresh produce...:)

You have probably come across Earthbound Farm organic produce while scanning the fruit & veggie section at the grocery store. They have excellent produce, don't they??

Earthbound Farm generously sent me coupons for their produce, and their cookbook, Food to Live By (written by Myra Goodman, co-founder of Earthbound Farm) to review. We decided to try their broccoli to use in a stir-fry. It turned out great; stir-fry just isn't complete without broccoli and it adds color, too:)
Ready to be steamed...

 Delicious:)
Now about the cookbook...

This cookbook is chock full of recipes!!!  Not only are there great recipes ranging from Chicken Satays with Peanut Sauce to Pizza Dough to Pumpkin Pecan Muffins (would be great for Thanksgiving!) to Buttermilk Blue Cheese Dressing, but this cookbook includes the history of Earthbound Farms and tons of great tips, information from food mills to organic poultry and different field guides!

It is a softcover containing 402 pages & 10 chapters. The photos are not just of the recipes, but also a glimpse from around the Earthbound Farm.  Very clear and bright pics!  I am going to get many years of use out of this!
When Drew and Myra Goodman came to California’s Carmel Valley in 1984, they were determined young transplants from Manhattan, drawn to the natural beauty and richness of the land. Even before they turned over their first shovels full of soil, they believed strongly in doing the right thing.

They settled on a 2.5-acre raspberry farm and decided that doing the right thing meant committing to farming this spectacular land organically, producing food they would want to eat themselves and would feel good about serving their families, friends, and neighbors. Their labor of love became Earthbound Farm.

It wasn’t long before Earthbound Farm was doing a lot of the right things. Undaunted by those who said it couldn’t be done, in 1986 we became the first company to successfully launch prewashed, packaged salad for retail sale. When we introduced our mixed baby greens or “spring mix” to restaurants and supermarket produce aisles, we started a salad revolution. Today, gourmet salad greens and packaged salads have become staples of grocery baskets everywhere.

We’ve been farming for 26 years now, and we’ve become the world’s largest grower of organic produce. But our roots remain strong: our founders still guide the company, and our original commitment to farming organically has never wavered. We’re dedicated to bringing the benefits of organic food — fresh, flavorful, and healthy — to as many people as possible.

At Earthbound Farm, our unwavering commitment to organic farming comes from our concern for health. Farming organically helps keep our consumers and our environment healthy by avoiding the use of harmful chemicals. Organic farming focuses on building the fertility of the soil with natural materials, resulting in rich, vital field ecosystems that produce fruits and vegetables as pure and healthy as they were intended to be.

Our farm-fresh organic salads, fruits, and vegetables are chosen by millions of people every day in supermarkets across North America and beyond — we’re delighted to be sharing our passion with you in every delicious bite of Earthbound Farm organic produce.

So the next time you're about to grab an off-brand bag of carrots at the store, choose Earthbound Farm instead!

Earthbound Farm is offering 4 of my readers a copy of Food to Live By cookbook!

Amy's Review

Amy's Kitchen offers great meals for your family, some that are gluten, lactose, and cholesterol-free. I was sent two coupons for free products, so we decided on the Amy's Cheese Pizza. This pizza is made with organic tomatoes and flour and with 100% pure herbs and spices. It is a small sized pizza-ideal for a snack, especially for kids (and without the preservatives, etc!)  I had the idea of baking it in our toaster oven, and it fit perfectly!

E trying his first slice!

***

We didn’t set out to become the nation’s leading natural frozen food brand. All we wanted to do was create a business that would allow us to earn a living by providing convenient and tasty natural vegetarian meals for people like ourselves, who appreciated good food, but were often too busy to cook "from scratch."

We started on a "shoestring," using our own house and barn as headquarters. The founding meetings were held in the same room where we were married and where our daughter Amy was born.
This was in 1987, before the idea of "organic" food had become well known, and when there were very few frozen meals available for vegetarians to eat, either in health food stores or supermarkets. We were, however, very fortunate in being in the right place at the right time. The number of vegetarians had increased dramatically, as had consumer awareness of the harmful effects on their health and the environment of chemicals in the food supply.

Our first product, a vegetable pot pie, was an instant success.

Other products followed in rapid succession, and we made the amazing discovery that they were being eaten not only by vegetarians and those interested in natural foods, but by millions of people looking for easy to prepare meals that really tasted good.

Since then Amy’s has created over 88 frozen meals, including pizzas, pocket sandwiches, pot pies, entrĂ©es, snacks and whole meals. In 1999, we introduced a grocery line that now includes canned soups, beans and chili as well as jarred pasta sauces and salsas. Our foods are carried by all natural food stores, supermarkets and some club stores in the United States, Canada and abroad.

Although we have considerably expanded our production facilities and the number of people we employ, we have remained a family owned and operated business, sensitive to the needs of our customers.

In spite of the fact that many companies now produce similar products, Amy’s is still #1 in popularity and sales. Our total commitment to quality has made the difference.

Amy's has sooooooo many healthy choices for quick meals including Vegetable Lasagna, Vegetable Pot Pie, Breakfast Burrito, Organic Spicy Chipotle Salsa, and lots more!
You can find Amy's products in your local Kroger's organic
section.

Amy Adele Review & Giveaway!!

Are you looking for a "personalize-your-own thing" type of website? Amy Adele is the place to go!! They kindly let me select two items to customize, so I chose the Kitchen Bowls Recipe Cards and the Galloping Horse Stationery.  I love them! It was really fun to choose what picture and words I wanted on them. The format was very simple with many different font and color selections.  I was delighted to find them packaged in pretty little green satchels. They also came with envelopes which is nice, so you don't have to "hunt" around the house to find one!

All wrapped up nicely...

Pretty!

AmyAdele offers customized t-shirts, labels, stickers, and more!
Since I was child I have been hand drawing birthday and Christmas cards. I never took my art very seriously. However, in 2004 our friends and family encouraged us to turn my doodles into a business of selling cards.

I remember lying in bed one night laughing with my husband about the idea. Would people really want to buy my artwork? I haven't studied art my whole life and I don't have an art degree. I'm just a young mom with two sweet girls and I love to draw with colored pencil.

The encouragement from our family and friends was a humbling experience. After much prayer my husband and I believed God wanted us to pursue this project. We spent the following 18 months planning and organizing this online business and on November 15, 2005 amyadele.com was launched.

In less than a month my husband and I were up late every night folding cards and packaging orders. We quickly realized we could not run this business by ourselves. We had to hire help fast! Thankfully we did get help quickly. Since then every individual we have hired has been a dedicated and tireless professional that respects and cares about our customers.

Because we have such a great staff I am able to work from home and be with my children. I am still involved on a daily basis but our amazing staff manages our printing and production from our offices nearby.

I never imagined God would lead us on this adventure. However, I am thankful my art has been a part of so many lives. We are excited about our latest offering of personalized clothing and look forward to what's in store for the coming years.

May God bless you as you follow Him and find his adventure for your life.

Love,
Amy

CSN Stores Review!

My CSN Stores Review is finally here! Yippee:) CSN graciously sent a gift certificate to any of their stores. (And anyone familiar with CSN knows how many that is...200+!) I finally decided on the Fox Run Craftsmen Non-Stick 6-Cup Heart Muffin Pan. I absolutely love it! This morning, I made Cranberry Apple Muffins in it, and it worked great!  Before I put my muffin batter in the pan, I greased it using butter. When I went to take the muffins out...they came out perfectly! (I'm sure you know how frustrating it can be when they DO stick:) The muffin pan was very easy to fill, slides in and out of the oven well, and also has a little hook to be able to hang it up.  Everybody loved the muffins, as there is only one left! haha:-) The muffins looked so cute- almost like mini cakes.  This muffin pan will last me many years to come!

Ready for the oven...

Cooling...

Finished product!
Enjoy with a cup of milk or coffee!

CSN has sooo many different pieces of bakeware to select from, and with Thanksgiving coming up in a couple months, this would be a place to get your kitchen tools, etc. from!

*Green Mountain Coffee Review*

Green Mountain Coffee is a fantastic coffee company!  I was sent the Green Mountain Coffee Fair Trade Organic Vanilla Cream Coffee to review.  As I mentioned in a previous post, my mom is the "coffee queen" in our house (and always has been:)!  She LOVED it!  My mom really enjoys organic products so this was great for her!  She commented that it has exceptional and pure vanilla flavor with a smooth taste...nothing artificial:)  She also stated that this is one of the best tasting coffees.  It is definitely a 10:)

"Carefully sourcing the perfect bean is just the start. The perfect cup reflects thoughtful consideration of each bean's character, and how different beans can be combined to strike just the right balance of flavor, body and acidity.

Of course, a great cup of coffee should be an everyday occurrence. Once we hit upon the magic combination of roast and recipe, our state-of-the-art software and roasting equipment allows us to replicate a roast profile precisely, time after time. The results can be revelatory."

"Blending is where the art is," says Don Holly, Director of Quality for Green Mountain Coffee. "Knowing which notes will harmonize, and which are better left to solo."

Don was part of a team that developed the recipe for Organic Espresso Blend. Working with the chefs of nearby Shelburne Farms, the team tasted our entire collection of organic, Fair Trade Certified™ beans at a medium roast. They then started blending, adding nuances of chocolate from our Mexican coffee with the deep body found in Indonesian beans.

"That's the way we determined how each element complemented the other, and were able to express the complexity of a good espresso," Don says. "It's like a conductor putting together a symphony of individual musicians."
Green Mountain Coffee has lots of flavors including Pumpkin Spice, Wild Mountain Blueberrry, and Rain Forest Nut!  So check it out today...Green Mountain Coffee is bound to offer something that you'll enjoy!!

Zevia Review & Giveaway!!

Are you addicted to diet pop, but really want to stop?  Zevia is an all natural alternative! I was sent a mixed 6 pack of soda; the flavors were: Dr. Zevia, Lemon-Lime Twist, Ginger Rootbeer, Black Cherry, Cola, and Orange. My mom had the Black Cherry, and she really liked it! I tried a sip of hers, and I think that is the best flavor! My dad had the Cola flavor, and he said that it tastes as good as diet pop with no chemicals. Instead of nasty chemicals, Zevia sweetens their pop with Stevia! For those not familiar with stevia, click here! This pop also contains zero calories.

Nice and refreshing...
“OUR STORY: THE HISTORY OF Zevia®

Jessica: “For years, I was addicted to diet soda. I would drink five sodas a day. I didn’t want to drink my calories, but I’m not a water drinker - I want the fizz and pop of a soda! We spent a lot of time researching all that went into making a diet soda and tried to figure out what we could do to make it better, more natural, healthier. We learned all sorts of things about diet drinks, like phosphoric acid depletes calcium in bones, and most orange sodas are loaded with artificial food dyes. We have addressed all those issues. I felt like it took forever to finally get it in a can! And once we did, I was so excited, because it tasted great and I knew I could kick my diet soda habit with it! ZEVIA has changed my life and from what we hear from consumers, we are changing lives everyday.”

Ian: “A friend of mine introduced me to Don Thrasher. Don, from Los Angeles, had been using stevia in a soda or, as he later explained, a "dietary supplement." I had never heard of stevia and was a complete skeptic. Don suggested I research stevia myself. I learned that this amazing herb was hundreds of times sweeter than sugar yet completely natural. Don was working on what he had named "Z Cola". Don suggested we explore the possibility of working together to take his business to the next level and beyond. Don had a truly disruptive idea that would later revolutionize the beverage industry. On a personal front I was drinking at least 6 cans of Diet Coke and Fresca per day. I knew they were bad for me but I had blinders on as to their detrimental health effects. Diet soda was my guilty pleasure. But Don insisted I not ignore the health problems caused by the artificial ingredients in diet soda. Don convinced me to research aspartame and Splenda. he was right. I couldn't believe I was drinking that poison! Don convinced Derek, Jessica and I that together we could produce a better and healthier soda. Most terrific ideas never get past the "talk" stage, but with an incredible team the dream of bringing a healthy, zero calorie soda to the masses has become reality in Zevia. ”

Derek: “Aside from her nasty soda habit, Jessica and I have always lived healthy lifestyles. I participate in triathlons, and she runs marathons. It killed me that she was ingesting the chemicals in diet soda because I want to live forever with her, and the soda was the only thing standing in the way. ZEVIA started out as just a great idea, but as I saw the potential, the need, and the ability to fill that void I knew we had to make it happen. We started with laboring to find the purest most natural ingredients in the world. Stevia is an herb from the rainforest hundreds of times sweeter than sugar without calories. It was the perfect ingredient to rid diet sodas of the artificial sweeteners that bothered me so much. Building the company has been so much fun. I enjoy every part of it. I feel like we are making a difference in people’s lives.”
That’s our story, what’s yours?”

No more feeling guilty of drinking pop:D
Zevia is offering one of my readers a 6 pack of the Black Cherry flavor! Yum!

Thai Kitchen Review!

"We couldn’t seriously call ourselves Thai Kitchen if we weren’t committed to making nothing but the most authentic Thai food. There’s no faking it. We’re about providing the best Thai food experience available to anyone, anytime, without compromising quality for convenience. That’s why we use only fresh, natural ingredients selected at harvest for their quality and flavor. With Thai Kitchen, you can say goodbye to Thai food delivery and pricey restaurant meals."

Thai Kitchen was a great company to review because I am actually part Thai:) They generously sent me four of their staple ingredients: Jasmine Rice, Fish Sauce, Coconut Milk, and Red Curry Paste to demonstrate to my readers how to create delicious Thai meals!

For lunch last Saturday, we made Coconut Chicken Soup. It is a simple recipe which even picky eaters will enjoy:)  Coconut Chicken is great for hectic nights, and makes good leftovers, too! My whole family enjoys this recipe, and I’m sure yours will too…
                                    Here is the recipe:
                     Thai Kitchen Chicken Coconut Soup

                                     Prep. Time: 15 min.
                                    Cook Time: 15 min.
                                   Makes 6 servings.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips
3 cups Thai Kitchen Coconut Milk
2 cups water
¼ cup Thai Premium Fish Sauce
¼ cup fresh lime juice
2 tbsp. minced ginger
¼ tsp. ground red pepper
2 tbsp. thinly sliced green onion
1 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
(Note: The last three ingredients can be optional.)

Directions:
Heat oil in large saucepan on medium heat. Add chicken; stir fry 3 min. or until chicken is cooked through. Stir in Coconut milk and water. Bring to boil; reduce heat to low.
Stir in Fish Sauce, lime juice, ginger, and red pepper. Simmer 10 min., stirring occasionally.
To serve, ladle into soup bowls. Garnish with green onion and cilantro. Enjoy!

Community Coffee Review & Giveaway!!

ATTENTION ALL COFFEE LOVERS!!
Community Coffee is a great company with tons of different coffee and tea products to choose from! They kindly let me choose a product to review, so I chose the Gourmet Flavor Coffee Lovers Gift Set. My mom is the “coffee queen” in our house, so this set was great for her:) This set came neatly packaged in a wooden crate with four bright bags of coffee.
Mmmm...
The four flavors are Cinnamon Roll, Pecan Praline, French Vanilla, and Hazelnut. (All flavors are a medium-dark roast.) My mom decided on first opening the Cinnamon Roll flavor, and she said it was very good with a hint of cinnamon. (Also for storage, she likes to keep her coffee in the freezer.)
Is your mouth watering yet?  LOL!
So for all you coffee lovers, this is the perfect match for you, and should last you awhile.  Well, maybe:)  Or this would be a wonderful gift for grandparents or anybody else you know who enjoys coffee!

“For four generations, the Saurage family of Louisiana has owned and operated Community Coffee Company. In 1919, Henry Norman "Cap" Saurage discovered the secret of making this great-tasting coffee in his country store in Dixie, Louisiana, near Baton Rouge. He named his coffee "Community" in honor of his community of friends. In 1924, he closed the store and converted his backyard barn into a coffee mill, using coffee beans purchased from a local roaster. In 1941, Cap's son H. Norman Saurage Jr. purchased the company's first coffee roaster, having decided that Community should roast its own coffee to ensure quality at every step. A roasting plant was built in Baton Rouge in 1946.

Over the years, Community Coffee Company would take countless steps to ensure the quality of its product. In 1955, the company began importing green coffee beans directly from coffee plantations in Brazil. In 1970, a new plant was built on the Mississippi River in Port Allen, Louisiana. In 1980, Community introduced the nation's first vacuum-sealed coffee package.

The first CC's Community Coffee House opened on the corner of Jefferson and Magazine Street in New Orleans in 1995. Dozens more opened during the 10 years that followed.

It's been more than 90 years since Cap Saurage founded Community Coffee Company, but our mission has never changed – to share our passion for great coffee with our customers.”
Community Coffee is offering one of my readers a Gourmet Flavor Coffee Lovers Gift Set {$34.95 value!} of their own!!

Reviva Labs Review & Giveaway!

Reviva Labs offers many great skin care products sent, and they kindly sent me the Alpha Lipoic Acid, Olive Oil & DMAE Hand & Body Lotion and Elastin & Collagen Body Firming Lotion (both 8 fl. oz.) to review. I decided to give my mom the Body Firming Lotion, and keep the Alpha Lipoic Acid one for myself. The bottles are narrow, making it easy to slip into a purse pocket, etc.

My mom liked the consistency in that it wasn’t watery or greasy, but rather smooth and creamy. She also enjoyed the pleasant orange scent. Here’s a description of the Elastin & Collagen Lotion: “Treatment instead of mere moisturizing action. Excellent to help prevent stretch marks. Use on upper arms and general toning of body skin during weight loss.”

I used the Alpha Lipoic Acid Lotion on my face yesterday morning, and I think it helped my skin to not be so dry! The directions for this lotion say to “Massage gently into hands and body. For body, most effective after bath or shower when skin is slightly wet. For hands use frequently.” I like to keep lotion on my headboard so I can apply it before bedtime, and don’t have to get out of bed to get it:)

“REVIVA LABS© has introduced many groundbreaking concepts Since its inception in 1973... The first to introduce exfoliation to America...with our European LIGHT SKIN PEEL
(We were explaining the importance of exfoliation years before the cosmetics giants introduced their versions) The first to introduce elastin to America...Both in skin-care salons and health food stores No animal testing! Before it was even an issue (way back in 1973), we announced the testing of our products in skin-care salons rather than on animals And here are several more "FIRSTS" that we are proud to have introduced via Health Food Stores and Skin-Care Salons INTERCELLULAR DAY CREAM & NIGHT GEL (with hyaluronic acid & glycogen)
-non-drying approach to acne
-unique dark-spot lightening formulas
-collagen fibre masks
-glycolic acid products
-serum for eyelids
-oxygen-via stabilized hydrogen peroxide
-stabilized ascorbic acid & ascorbigen
("C" extract from cabbage for powerful anti-free radical action)

For over 28 Years Reviva Labs has been producing all natural skin-care products that help leave your skin healthier and more youthful-looking.
Reviva Labs products are sold in professional skin care salons and health food stores worldwide, which attests to our product's effectiveness and safety.
Reviva Labs is one of the most unique skin-care brands in the cosmetic industry. Reviva's products are not conventional commercial items. Established in 1973 to serve the newly emerging skin-salon market, the Reviva line is comprised of skin treatments created for skin professionals demand for individualized formulas that meet specific needs.
Thus in Reviva's broad array, each product is formulated for a specific purpose.
During Reviva's early years, it was known as "The U.N. of skin-care discoveries". With European affiliations Reviva's founder had selected the specialties of 12 different laboratories in 6 different countries, imported them in bulk and repackaged in retail sizes under the Reviva label.
Years later, Reviva Labs own chemists, experienced with natural extracts, were able to reproduce the treatments, following Reviva's exacting standards; adding the latest technological advances.
Reviva Labs, a small company compared to the cosmetic giants, via it's European affiliations and dermatalogical research, has introduced more skin-care firsts through America's skin salons and health food stores, than most of the cosmetic giants.”

One of my readers will receive one bottle each of the Alpha Lipoic Acid and Body Firming Lotions!

CleanWell Review!

Are you looking for hand soap that is free of triclosan? CleanWell is the place to find it! They kindly sent me four bottles of the All-Natural Antibacterial Foaming Handsoap to review. CleanWell offers their foam soap in four wonderful scents: Orange Vanilla, Lavender Absolute, Ginger Bergamot, and Spearmint Lime. My favorite is the Orange Vanilla; it reminded me of orange sherbet icecream:D I gave the Spearmint Lime one to a friend, and she liked the scent of it! My mom liked that the soap was triclosan-free, had a pleasant scent, and that the bottles are reusable!  Since the Ginger Bergamot scent is the strongest, it would be good for in the kitchen to use after chopping onions:)  My dad commented about how he liked this one.  Every bottle kills 99.9% of germs, is infused with antioxidants, and is paraben-free. The good thing about foam soap is that it takes less time to wash your hands than does the normal kind.  If you are not familiar about triclosan, click here.

“This quartet of our foaming hand soaps is sure to make hand washing a pleasurable experience. Ginger bergamot, lavender absolute, orange vanilla and spearmint lime were all custom created for CleanWell by natural perfumer Mandy Aftel. Mom's Best Naturals Cereal Review!

Are you getting tired of eating corn flakes or Rice Crispies each morning, day in and day out? A perfect solution to your monotonous breakfasts is Mom's Best Naturals! Mom's Best Naturals generously allowed me to choose 2 boxes of cereal to review, so I decided on the Toasted Cinnamon Squares and Mallow Oats. (I thought my brothers would enjoy marshmallows in their cereal:) I am glad there were different kinds to choose from that didn't contain any tree nuts, as my younger brother is allergic to them. When I received the cereal boxes, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were family size! (The Toasted Cinnamon Squares was 17.5 oz and the Mallow Oats was 16 oz.) My personal favorite was the Toasted Cinnamon Squares; the squares are sweet, but not too much. This was good for me because I don't like really sweet cereal:)

Mmmm...
C really likes cereal!

Here's a description of the Toasted Cinnamon Squares:

Made with whole grain wheat and rice for a delicious breakfast cereal. Breakfast cereal is all we make. We use only the highest quality ingredients. There's nothing artificial, no added saturated fat or hydrogenated oils, no high fructose corn syrup.

The Mallow Oats box is a great "kid's cereal" with the little marshmallows that remind me of Altoid mints, and the toasted oats that are in the shape of anchors. This would be a great take-along snack for a long trip. Parents don't have to worry about all the "junk" that comes along with most other processed foods; it contains no MSG! A sweet snack, yet with no unhealthy ingredients!
