Modest Handmaidens Review & Giveaway!!

Modest Handmaidens is a cute place to find many different styles for skirt and jumper patterns as well as other items such as aprons, fabric, books, and more!
Modest Handmaidens is a family owned and operated, home-based Christian cottage industry and ministry, that strives to meet the ever increasing need for modest sewing patterns, as well as provide homemaking resources & related products for our “Keepers at Home” Titus 2 customers. They kindly sent me the Sashay Skirt pattern to review.

I was surprised and happy to receive it so quickly as it came in just a couple days after I contacted them!    I really like this pattern because it's simple and quick, yet beautiful at the same time.  The same I day the pattern came, the skirt was finished!  A family friend gives me sewing lessons, and with her help it was finished "lickety-split":)  It was very convenient to find my measurement.  After measuring my waist, we were going to figure how many panels I'd need, but to our delight it was already on the pattern.  This skirt is composed of several small panels; for my size I required 10 panels.  (We decided to lengthen it about 5 1/2 in. by adding a separate waistband and 4 in. on the bottom.) Another aspect about this pattern was that I didn't have to sew a regular hem. Rather, I flipped the end up, ironed, and used a zigzag stitch on my machine.  I absolutely love how this skirt feels-so comfortable, lightweight, and cool for hot summer days!  This is definitely going to be a summer fav.!  You'll have to read my next post to see where I got the fabric:)  Here's some photos from when we made the skirt...

Finished!

For your next summer sewing project, I highly recommend using this pattern!

Charlie's Soap Review & Giveaway!!

Charlie's Soap kindly gave me an opportunity to review some of their products by sending me a sample bag!
In the sample bag the products included several packets of their laundry detergent and stain remover spray.
Ready to go!
We just finished using the laundry powder today.  Now let me tell you, this is not a fragrant detergent.  BUT... it really gives your clothes a thorough cleaning, and you will not tell the difference from your normal brand.  Charlie's Soap certainly fits the well-known saying of, " A little bit goes a long way" as only a tablespoon is required for a normal full load!  Better yet, Charlie's Soap is biodegradable, hypo-allergenic (this would be great for babies!), and free of phosphates, lye, bleach, brighteners, dyes, softeners, petroleum, and perfumes!

Into the washer it goes:)

One day last week, my mom left her vitamin in her shirt pocket, and accidentally washed it, resulting in a noticeable, disgusting-looking stain:(  Charlie's handy pocket spray to the RESCUE!  After applying this, the stain vanished!
Yuck!

Using the stain remover on my dad's pants:)

Here is a graph showing the effectiveness of Charlie's stain remover.

Charlie's Soap is offering one of my readers an 80 load laundry powder, a 32 oz kitchen/bath cleaner, and a grocery tote bag!!  Yeah!
